STI symptoms you should never ignore
Some signs deserve prompt attention. Here are the ones worth acting on quickly.
Changes worth checking Unusual discharge, pain or burning when passing urine, sores, blisters, warts or unexplained rashes around the genitals, and pain during sex all deserve a check.
Less obvious signs Bleeding between periods or after sex, pain low in the stomach, swollen testicles, a sore throat that will not settle after oral sex, and unexplained tiredness or fever can all be linked to infections.
Remember the silent infections Most STIs cause no symptoms at all, so feeling fine is not proof that everything is clear.
What to do next Test, and speak to a doctor, GP or sexual health clinic about symptoms. Do not wait for symptoms to get worse before seeking advice.
