Vitamin D Test Kit
Before you start
You will need:
- Your Vitamin D test kit
- The finger-prick lancet and blood collection equipment provided
- The buffer provided
- A timer or your phone
Before starting:
- Read all instructions before beginning.
- Room temperature matters: let the kit warm up in the room you will test in until it reaches room temperature (10–30°C) before you start.
- Check the expiry date and ensure the packaging is undamaged.
- Place the test cassette on a clean, flat surface.
Step 1 — Collect your blood sample
- Wash your hands with warm water and soap, then dry them thoroughly.
- Remove the protective cap from the single-use finger-prick lancet.
- Press the lancet firmly against the side of a clean fingertip to prick your finger.
- Hold your hand pointing down and gently massage from your palm towards the fingertip until a rounded drop of blood forms. Do not squeeze the puncture site.
- Use the blood collection equipment in the kit to collect the blood drop.
- Use the blood immediately, then safely dispose of the used lancet. Do not reuse it.
- Take care when handling blood and avoid getting blood on your skin, eyes or other surfaces.
Step 2 — Add the blood
- Add 2 drops of blood (approximately 10 µL) to the sample well marked S on the test cassette.
Step 3 — Add the buffer
- Once the blood has soaked into the test, add 3 drops of the supplied buffer (approximately 90 µL) to the same sample well marked S.
Step 4 — Wait
- Set a timer for 15–20 minutes.
- Read your result within this time.
- Do not interpret the test after 20 minutes.

Understanding Your Result
1 — Check the control line (C)
A blue line must appear at C for the test to be valid. If no C line appears, the test is invalid. Repeat using a new test kit.
2 — Compare the test line (T)
Use the Vitamin D colour reference card below. Compare the colour of the T line with the reference bands. The lighter the T line, the lower the estimated Vitamin D level.
These are screening estimates, not a laboratory measurement or medical diagnosis.

Vitamin D — Colour Reference Card
Compare the colour of the T line with the colour bands.
Deficient
Below 10 ng/mL
Lighter than the 10 ng/mL reference
Insufficient
10 to below 30 ng/mL
Between the 10 and 30 ng/mL references
Normal range
30 ng/mL or above
Equal to or darker than the 30 ng/mL reference
The lighter the T line, the lower the estimated Vitamin D level.
